Join us today, Thursday, Feb. 1, 5 to 7 p.m., for the closing reception for Bryce Speed's exhibition in the Eichold Gallery. His images of outside and inside merge, creating an ambiguity of space where architectural forms can reference both the stability and instability of identity. Forces of nature, like water, fire, and wind invade and sometimes destroy these structures. Destruction paired with the temporary (or resilient) nature of architecture serves as a metaphor for the evolving self. Speed is an Assistant Professor of Painting at the University of Alabama.
