Bryce Speed's paintings will be on exhibit in the Eichold Gallery through Feb. 3. A closing reception will be held on Thursday, Feb. 2 from 5 to 7 p.m. His images of outside and inside merge, creating an ambiguity of space where architectural forms can reference both the stability and instability of identity. Forces of nature, like water, fire, and wind invade and sometimes destroy these structures. Destruction paired with the temporary (or resilient) nature of architecture serves as a metaphor for the evolving self. Bryce is an Assistant Professor of Painting at the University of Alabama.
